Job Description

Title:  Headquarters Gym Manager

Summary:  Rock Steady Boxing Headquarters gym is seeking a gym manager to run day-to-day operations at our training and education gym on the northeast side of Indianapolis. This Gym manager position will supervise our front desk and collaborate with the Training & Education team which supervises our 12-person coaching team. The Gym manager will oversee facilities, fiscal management, and all current gym programming (including 20+ RSB classes per week, Speech therapy, support groups, etc.). The Gym will also be tasked with growing programming specific to the Parkinson’s community (exercise classes, other therapy providers, etc.).

Responsibilities:

Administration/Organization

• Manage the weekly schedule of events and classes at the HQ gym, including Zoom classes, front desk, and coaches’ schedules.
• Directly supervise front office customer service personnel.
• Develop and maintain relationships and collaborations with local Parkinson disease service and exercise organizations.
• Evaluate the need for and develop appropriate policy and procedures for the HQ gym.
• Collaborate on the recruitment and hiring of HQ gym coaches and staff.
• Collaborate with RSB HQ Organizational staff to lead events at HQ gym, including training, fundraising, and marketing events.
• Responsible for information dissemination to participants, including monthly newsletter, class announcements, and other pertinent information.
• Coordinate annual training (CPR, AED, emergency response, first aid, etc.) for all staff.

Program Management

• Build collaborations with clinicians (PT, OT, Speech, Counseling, Social Work, etc.) to develop RSB HQ as a recognized center of service excellence for the Parkinson’s community.
• Work with complementary PD-based exercise offering at RSB HQ to diversify our exercise class offerings while maintaining a central focus on Rock Steady Boxing.
• Assess current programming and class schedule and refine to maximize gym space usage.
• Be available to teach 1-3 RSB classes per week, including some evening classes.

  Financial Management

• Ensure overall operational and fiscal success of the HQ gym.
• Exhibit an understanding of budgets and income statements.
• Collaborate with HQ staff on fundraising and grant writing for the local HQ gym.
• Establish controls on expenses and the purchasing of facility supplies.

Facilities Management

• Ensure that the facility meets the highest standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, security, and physical operations.
• Ensures that the facility provides accessibility for people with Parkinson’s disease and is compliant with federal and state laws and regulations including: Occupational Safety and Health Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act, and its Amendments (ADAAA).
• Keep current on knowledge of best practices for fitness facility operations, health, and safety.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, recreation or fitness management, business, or related field.
• 3+ years previous experience in fitness management OR 2 years of proven successful experience in program development and supervision
• Computer/Technology proficiency, especially conducting virtual meetings/workouts, Outlook, Word, and Excel
• CPR/AED Certification

Preferred

• A record of exercise program development, implementation, and growth within a fitness facility
• History or knowledge of RSB programs
• Understanding of Parkinson disease and wellness/fitness related to management of PD
• NCCA certification as a fitness professional
• Certification as a RSB Head Coach

Benefits:

• Salary for this position is $50,000
• This position is full-time, benefited position at RSB headquarters in Indianapolis, IN.
