Job Description:
The Mobile Engineer is responsible for operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment systems across assigned facilities. This role focuses on ensuring equipment operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime through proactive maintenance and timely repairs. The position requires strong technical expertise in HVAC and refrigeration systems, along with the ability to work across multiple trades including electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
In this role, the engineer performs preventive maintenance and responds to repair work orders on facility systems and equipment. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems, electrical distribution systems, plumbing infrastructure, and building components such as walls, flooring, roofing, and lighting. The engineer is expected to conduct facility inspections, identify and report conditions that may impact operations, and support overall building performance. Daily activities include updating work orders in real time, utilizing CMMS systems for tracking and documentation, and submitting procurement-related receipts as required. The role requires becoming familiar with a variety of equipment and tools used in daily operations, as well as being available for on-call and emergency response work.
Candidates must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to travel between Escanaba and Marquette, Michigan. A Universal CFC recovery certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Applicants should have a minimum of four years of technical experience in building engineering, with a strong background in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, and production equipment maintenance. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial or supermarket refrigeration systems is required.
Preferred candidates will have experience using CMMS or work order management systems and a working knowledge of standard computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheets. Additional training through a trades school or a documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, or HVAC is beneficial.
