Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Position Summary: This is a non-sworn, Select Exempt Service, Senior Investigator position in the Office of the Attorney General within the Inspector General's Office in Tallahassee, Florida.
Pay: $65,000.00 to $71,400.00 Annually
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of investigative experience OR seven (7) years of investigative experience , preferably with at least two of those years being in an Inspector General's Office, Internal Affairs, or similar/equivalent environment (i.e., conducting investigations involving an agency's or organization's employees).
2. Experience conducting one or more of the following types of investigations:
a. Criminal
b. Sexual Harassment
c. Discrimination
d. Whistle-blower
e. Administrative
3. Experience conducting interviews of complainants, witnesses, and subjects of investigation and obtaining sworn statements.
4. Experience writing investigative reports and affidavits in a logical manner, with appropriate articulation of events and situations, and demonstrating appropriate grammar, syntax, punctuation and spelling.
5. Experience identifying, collecting, and preserving evidence.
6. Experience interpreting violations of laws, rules, policies, or procedures.
7. Must be able to obtain/maintain a Florida Notary Public (must be or become a Florida resident).
8. Experience working with computer-based software, such as word-processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
9. Ability to travel.
10. Valid driver's license.

The Work You Will Do: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
The duties and responsibilities of this position stem from enforcement of Chapter 20.055, Florida Statutes, administrative rules, policies and procedures of the Department, and other state and federal statutes and laws. The duties of this position are performed under the guidance and direct supervision of the Law Enforcement Major in the Inspector General’s Office.
This position’s primary responsibility is to conduct independent, administrative internal investigations, of alleged violations of law, rule, administrative code, Departmental policies, procedures, or allegations pertaining to fraud, waste, or abuse within Department programs by Department employees or contractors.
These investigations require a full understanding of Department policies, state personnel rules and regulations, collective bargaining contracts, the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights and Whistleblower statutes. The activities of this position are highly confidential and are related to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the Department at every level. This position may require some extended hours and/or travel.
This is independent work and the Senior Investigator must maintain knowledge of current statutes or regulatory guidance, and investigative skills to effectively conduct investigations, including obtaining and maintaining certification as a EEO Investigator and as a Certified Inspector General Investigator.
The duties of this position include taking sworn statements and requires the Senior Investigator to obtain and maintain commission as a Florida Notary Public.
This position will participate in the maintenance of accreditation with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation , Inc. and may be required to participate as an Accreditation Manager.
This position may provide testimony at administrative or personnel hearings, and any other legal proceedings as needed.
This position assists other investigative partners or agencies in conducting their investigations when approved and directed by the Inspector General.
Performs all other related duties as requested.
