About MCRC:
The Multicultural Community Resource Center (MCRC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting immigrant, refugee, Latino, and New American communities through advocacy, education, and essential services. We believe language access is a critical part of building equity and inclusion in our community.

Position Summary:
MCRC is currently seeking Spanish-speaking interpreters to provide interpretation support at medical appointments for refugee and immigrant clients in the Erie area. Interpreters play a vital role in ensuring families understand and are empowered to make informed decisions about their healthcare.

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Spanish Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between Spanish-speaking individuals and English-speaking professionals in various settings, including hospitals and child protective services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and the ability to interpret accurately in high-pressure situations. This role is crucial in ensuring that all parties understand the information being conveyed, thereby promoting better outcomes in healthcare and social services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and confidential in-person Spanish-English interpretation at medical appointments.
  • Ensure cultural sensitivity while facilitating communication between clients and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain professionalism and client confidentiality in accordance with MCRC policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Be punctual and prepared for scheduled interpreting assignments.
  • Accurately report hours worked for payment purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English (spoken and understood).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • No prior interpreting experience required training will be provided .
  • Reliable transportation to appointment locations within Erie County.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on scheduling needs.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Compensation:

  • $20 per hour
  • 1099 Independent Contractor position (interpreter is responsible for their own taxes and record-keeping)
