Tax Preparer

Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join a growing public accounting team in Fort Wayne. This role focuses primarily on preparing and reviewing business tax returns. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in tax preparation, proficiency with QuickBooks, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines. Experience with Lacerte tax software is not required, but candidates should be comfortable learning new systems quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review business tax returns with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations

• Utilize QuickBooks for bookkeeping and financial record management

• Work with clients and internal teams to gather financial documentation

• Provide support for tax planning based on public accounting best practices

• Ensure timely filing of tax returns and respond to tax-related inquiries as needed

• Learn and utilize Lacerte tax software for tax preparation tasks

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of tax preparation experience, with a focus on business tax returns

• Background in public accounting strongly preferred

• Proficiency in QuickBooks required

• CPA preferred, but not required

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
