Job Description

Job Summary:

LSA has an opening for a dedicated, caring, dynamic Christ-filled kindergarten through second-grade teacher for the upcoming school year. They are looking for someone who is a team player, creative, and who loves children. Applicants for this position must model Christ-like behavior and attitudes which will positively impact students in leading them to Christ. Candidates must have good classroom management skills and be able to deliver instruction to students on the indicated subjects or grade levels using a variety of teaching methods and activities. The selected employee will also be responsible for other school duties as may be assigned.


Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. A minimum of a bachelor's degree with North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). A minimum of three years of successful classroom experience and a strength in early childhood education are preferred. Must be a team player; have a service-oriented attitude; be an effective communicator possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills; and be able to positively engage with students and families of diverse backgrounds, regardless of language, ethnicity, race, or socioeconomic status. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, self-directed, and motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, as well as knowledge of proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.


Job Responsibilities:

The teacher will be expected to:

  • Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference.
  • Develop and submit weekly lesson plans to the principal as required. Lesson plans are to include Objectives, Procedures and Evaluation for each learning style. Must also demonstrate evidence of lesson/unit planning and preparation that honors individual diversity and builds upon prior knowledge.
  • Select resources to support the subject matter that is academically and developmentally appropriate for diverse abilities and interests.
  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction to students, employ a variety of teaching techniques and activities appropriate to student learning styles and subject matter, stimulate critical and creative thinking, and monitor student understanding.
  • Use a variety of evaluation techniques to provide feedback and communicate progress, providing opportunities for students to learn from mistakes as well as successes.
  • Utilize appropriate classroom management routines that facilitate student engagement and continuity.
  • Provide for individual differences through diagnostic and prescriptive teaching.
  • Communicate challenging expectations that encompass critical and creative thinking as well as problem-solving skills.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports and is conducive to student learning and development, allowing sufficient time for academic activities.
  • Utilize effective behavior management techniques which promote self-discipline.
  • Systematically involve all students in the instructional process and encourage intellectual risk taking.
  • Maintain accurate and organized student class records (attendance, grades, etc.) on the school's Student Information System in compliance with administration.
  • Communicate with parents regularly, keeping them well-informed.
  • Be willing to grow professionally.
